Do You Live in Baltimore?

If so, and you enjoy quilting with modern fabrics, then consider joining the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild. I recently joined the sister branch in DC, and I really enjoyed going to my first event. I love the concept of online guilds where people can interact a lot more often than a once a month traditional guild meeting. We organize events, but the online function gives us far more opportunities to reach out and share photos, ideas, or ask for advice :)

  1. Leigh, thanks so much for popping round to my blog. I hope you can get back to working on your filmstrips quilt and will share a pic when you've finished. Also, I have a question about the solids you ordered from Connecting Threads. I use kona cotton solids and they are rather "rough" but the texture works in some quilts. I do need some solids with a smoother finish for a paper pieced mariner's compass I'm going to attempt....would you say the solids you got are a finer finish?

  2. The solids were very soft, and had almost a satin-y sheen to them. Not overly shiny, but definitely very smooth.

I ordered two fat eighth packs - the bold and the warm colors, and got fat quarters of a handful and some yardage of the black and white to use as background. I haven't begun working with them yet, but I was very happy with the quality of the order, and I can't wait to dig in.

  3. thanks Leigh, I ordered some charm packs just to get a feel for the fabric, and if it is wonderful as you've found, I'll be ordering some half yard cuts in the colors of the ocean....can't wait.
